I've grabbed 12pin molex connectors at RadioShack but they will cost you about $4-5 for each side of the connector. Doing a bunch of connectors can get pricey there but they work in a pinch. I haven't seen any at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.  You might find some stuff at an automotive parts store, but it will be limited.

Host the picture somewhere (imgur.com) and then use the

tag to put a link to the picture.

Some of the 8-ways have a plate you can rotate to convert it to a 4-way without much of an issue. A cheap JAMMA harness is about $8 at New Holland computers or eBay. Chances are you'll need to modify the control panel or make a new piece. When track get put in, the control panel usually ends up with a giant hole. But I'm not familiar with the Dynamo cocktail table so I could be wrong.

Before you rip that front piece off, I'd try gently scratching that black paint off to see if it's orange underneath. It might be salvageable. Painted Nintendo cabs clean up really well with CitriStrip.  Looks like it'll also need some white t-molding: https://www.t-molding.com/9-16in-flat-white-t-molding.html

I'd vote for putting the DK Jr. artwork on, but cleaning up your VS. SMB stuff and leaving that in since you enjoy it so much. Down the road when you're bored you can just rotate the monitor, and do a simple conversion to DK Jr. or DK3
49  Arcade and Pinball Discussions / General Arcade and Video Game Discussions / What are the Good 'cheap' JAMMA games? on: March 11, 2016, 09:06:08 pm
There are so many cabs out there that have been converted with a JAMMA harness. What are some of the good 'cheap' -- say $75 or less, JAMMA boards that are out there?  Sure there is the iCade 60-in-1, but I'm not counting that.  I'm talking original hardware, but a good find if you've got a JAMMA cabinet to put it into? If you know of any, just make sure to mark it horizontal or vertical.

50  Arcade and Pinball Discussions / General Arcade and Video Game Discussions / Re: Anyone with little kids?? Arcade hobby? How? on: March 04, 2016, 09:28:48 pm
I've got a 2 year old and perhaps more soon. So I don't have as many children as you do. My 2 year old loves watching the games and sitting in the seat of my racing game. He can identify and Ms. Pacman and knows that only quarters go in that lovely coin slot.

As far as time goes, it usually after everyone is in bed that I get to work on it and perhaps a day here and there on the weekend. I've met a good group of people locally who are very helpful. They get together one night every week, and while I can't make it every week, my wife encourages me to go once or twice a month. We get together at someone's house and play games and work on things.

So that's how I stay in the hobby. I understand with 3 kids and working nights it's going to be tough, but one night a month or a weekend day here and there shouldn't break a family. It's important that everyone has their own interests and time to do them (your wife included).

You can probably get your oldest one involved in the process too, either playing the games or helping you do some of the work. They'll appreciate it when they are older  Smiley

Good luck!

I've got 2 of these. Although I swear they were only like $30 when I was buying them. Now they are $40.

52  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Re: Pole Postion on: February 04, 2016, 10:35:55 pm
Oh welcome to the joys of owning a Pole Position. I know Ian does do some repairs on them if he's not too busy. Is the board getting the proper voltage? I'd definitely start there.

I'm not sure where your abilities like, but there is a table on page 25 of the PDF that might be helpful:

http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-videogames/P/polepos.pdf

Check the ram at 8F, 8H, and 4F (per the table) on the video PCB for your error codes. It may be one or none of those...  Perhaps some of the smarter folks will chime in!
53  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Static sound on Final Lap Twin on: January 03, 2016, 01:30:32 pm
I've replaced most of the caps in the sound area as well as the amp. You can only hear it with the volume maxed out and it's still very faint. It's been narrowed down to a board issue.  Does anyone else have any thoughts?

Not a bad idea.  Let's see some pics after you do it!
55  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Twitchy Monitor (Taito SI cocktail) on: July 11, 2015, 10:41:28 pm
My B&W monitor in my Taito Space Invaders cocktail is looking rather twitchy lately. I'm not even sure where to look for this. Does anyone have any ideas? It just started one day after not being turned on for a few days.

Nice ideas in here. Plus, I see an Atari Badlands. I'm working on fixing one of those up as well.

We're making progress...carpet should be all installed within the next week!  It has been over year since we started now.

To do list:
- Finish wiring TV & Ethernet
- Get carpet installed
- Get couch delivered
- Run wiring for speakers (and setup that whole ordeal)
- MOVE IN GAMES!

When I started in the education field the kids couldn't remember my name (It's not hard...it's pretty generic). Some of the stoners students were struggling one class during first period so they called me Mr. Dude. The name stuck the entire year and then some and that's how I was known to many other students and even some of the other teachers. I thought it was very endearing of them.

Plus my wife stripped   Cool  ...the cabinet!  Tongue

The album: http://imgur.com/a/E6VQ4
First video update: https://youtu.be/Kae5jM1rcW0?list=PLbHiYDImGdzC-Kshoq3cVpKqC-xqWRd5Y

So a friend had this and about a year later I ended up with it for free! It needs some TLC but that's how I roll! It has a few issues but nothing that can't be taken care of.

Up and running, but a few things aren't working and the monitor isn't right.

When it arrived at the house.

What the heck...that doesn't look original. That's the top panel of the cabinet.

The gas pedal isn't working...we are at FULL THROTTLE ALL THE TIME!!!! Short in the micro switch and a button had the micro switch fall out.

Listing lazily to the left...crap do I need a cap kit?

Or I'll just put my sweaty tips on it's knobs and adjust it. Wait a minute...that sounds wrong.

Let's get rid of that crappy paint job!

Oh look! The original art.... Unfortunately it couldn't be saved since the CitriStrip went through the vinyl artwork.   Undecided  Not to mention restoring this game might have been a huge PITA.

My wife even stripped for me!  The sides of the cabinet that is!  She found this mildly satisfying. Time for more projects! I'm not going to lie...she was better at it than me.

Nice clean sides. Thanks dear!

Next on the list is to replace the micro switch for the gas pedal, possibly strip the front, and paint the cab.  I will keep you guys updated.
