I want to create a test area in my basement to connect JAMMA boards to an LCD monitor I normally use for my PC on my work bench. Is there an adapter or something I can buy/make that I can just unplug the VGA cable from my PC and plug it into something that connects to a JAMMA harness that I can connect right to a board I want to test? I need something where I can easily unplug it back and forth so I can still use it on my PC when I'm done.

Yes there is an adapter you can use, I highly recommend against it. Many games wont sync with it and can often give you false results.

What is the best option for setting up a test monitor? Get an old crappy CRT or something?

Well best would be a pvm monitor followed by just using a spare arcade monitor with an isotransformer

I will grab a pvm they don't seem to cost that much on ebay... never even thought to try one of those. Will I still need that card you linked to hook it all up?

nvm looks like I can maybe connect a BNC connection to it and it has enough wires on it to connect to JAMMA... I'll have to research some more... hopefully I don't kill myself.  Tongue

Check the image feed on the main forum page.  There's a great image that shows the most easy way to hook up RGB sync to a PVM.  BNC connectors with wire terminals.  That will work better for a test bed than using a VGA computer monitor adapter.

I've been slumming eBay for a PVM and they range anywhere from $50-$300... Are there any that I should totally stay away from or any PVM is fine for the most part? I am thinking about getting a PVM-8041Q or 8042Q and just want to make sure they aren't total garbage.

I'm happy with my Sony PVM 8042Q (from eBay).  As with anything on eBay, buyer beware.

Here is mine connected to Frogger for troubleshooting
