I have a Nintendo Playchoice and was wondering what it was worth. I don't
need top dollar for it but I don't want to give it away either. Any
suggestions?

I have a red tent machine (playchoice 10 on one side and goonies on the
other side) my monitor however has inverted (like blacks are whites and
reds are like a bluey color) its color on the vs goonie side (always been
like that since i bought it) is the monitor pooched or is there a simple
solution? is it the board not the monitor?

Hi, I've got a vs SMB chip set and I think I may be missing a PPU?
I have installed:
RP2A04 2J - slot 2J
6 SMB roms - slots 6A thru 6D, 8A, 8B
I believe I need a PPU in 8F location? Do you know which particular one so
I can try to hunt for one?
Thanks!!

Hey guys! Does anybody have Vs. Raid on Bungeling Bay (Japan) working? I'm
not sure how to set it up on my board. I have tried PPU's and CPU's on both
sides and I still get nothing.
Any ideas?
Thanks

So have you ever just bought programmed chips to work with an existing PPU
that you have? There is a post on KLOV about them. Isn't it best to go that
route instead of paying more for a duplicate PPU and the chips? What's your
take? I'm getting a full Tennis chip set so why not just buy programmed
chips for all the other games that take that PPU?

Hogan's Alley and Gradius both use the RP2C04-0001 PPU. So, you can remove
the PPU from the Gradius daughter board and then insert it on the main PCB
along with a set of Hogan's Alley ROMs and a CPU chip and then you are good
to go.
Ben

So question on PPU usage... Can you play Hogan's Alley then with a Gradius
PPU? Just want to make sure I understand this listing. Thanks.

@Chris - I believe the games that use 7 or 8 chips have chips going to the
other side of the board and they can only be used on a Unisystem. I haven't
tested these so I am not positive.

How can Vs. Raid on Bungeling Bay use 7 rom chips when there are only six
slots? is there a special motherboard just for that game?

Thanks for the detailed info. Just picked up a SMB VS unisystem last night
and your site gave me all the info to decide to get it.
SMB is one of the few arcade machines I want in my arcade and it is fun as
heck to play.
Was bummed to see the dips were already set up as easy as possible though

Hi John, can a Vs. System be used in a JAMMA setup? I am thinking of
getting a Playchoice 10 dual monitor board but not sure if it works in a
JAMMA cabinet.
Thanks

Thank you for your web-page and videos. I just picked up a vs dual system
upright cab and come to find out not a lot of people know how these work.
Your site is the Bull in a Bear JAMMA and Neo economy (not that there is
anything wrong with either of those types of systems).

About a year ago I acquired a Red Tent, and slowly I've been building up a
collection of games and mother boards, but from what I've noticed, none of
my games save high scores after I turn the cabinet off. I've replaced the
batteries on both of my motherboards, and I still get no high score saves.
Anyone know what the issue might be, or if they even save the high scores
at all? From what I understand, the games should save them... why else
would there be battery slots?

This is a great page, I am looking at getting one of these, and that was my
first question: "How easy is it to swap out games?". You explained it very
well, and had the great idea of pre-loading each card with games for easy
switch out. I love the idea, and I hope to get my dual red tent soon.
Thanks for your hard work!

Thanks for the great vs website--tons of useful info found here. FYI-Your
page of dips for vs baseball is missing the GAME/TEST option and the SW
banks are reversed. The manual page is correct. Also, your 'contact' link
email just bounces back. Do you have a source for PPU chips or just ebay +
networking? Thanks again, and the vids are great to evaluate a game before
buying!!

Hi, I just bought 2 red tents yesterday and learned just about everything I
know from your site and videos. However, when I put RBI in one of them, it
made a little sparking noise and the whole daughter board smelled terrible.
This also happened with the CPU 2 times, and they smelled terrible, and
nothing had come on the screen any of the 3 times. Did I short circuit
them, can they still work? I don't think I did anything wrong, I placed all
the roms correctly on the daughter board...Also, the red tent I put it in
worked fine with excitebike earlier, but now I'm afraid to test it again in
case it ruins the game.

Hi,

Can you tell me, are these games equivalent to NES games or arcade games?

Good. Where do you buy these? I can't find any of them... anywhere.
John
09 May 2009, 18:51
No, you do not need to solder to add or change games. The chips are all
socketed and are easily removed with small flat screwdriver or just by
hand.

09 May 2009, 16:26
Do I need solder for adding new games? Cause I'm converting one of these to
a Donkey Kong and want to save the PCB and stuff to convert something into
on of these one day.
John
20 Apr 2009, 14:24
Yes, for Vs. Tennis you need (12) ROM chips, 2 PPUS chips and 2 CPU chips
to make it work. It's a Dualsystem only game.
