hey everyone extremely new to the hobby here and am picking up my very first cabinet for 25 bucks thursday april 8th 2021 as you can probably tell from the title of the post it is a atari battlezone i dont have a picture right now but it appears to be in pretty good condition so im fairly confident i can get it to work what im wondering is what should i look for in terms of bringing it back to life? the seller thinks its the power supply and possibly the monitor? how easy is it to switch out the power supply also thinking i should maybe check the fuses i do not have a multimeter or any sort of tools is any of that required before i go poking around all willy nilly? any help is appreciated as i am a huge noob and dont wanna kill myself over something silly

Awesome on sharing the John's Arcade High Score cards. Are these a standard label size to print them to a label?

Thanks

This has always been a post that sits in the back of my head every time I help someone identify a cabinet and I have never been able to find out what it originally was but always looked every once in awhile, until finally I saw this post out of nowhere https://www.facebook.com/As-Found-Arcade-Machines-671138093218203/photos/pcb.1391117444553594/1391117334553605

It appears to be originally a Gametecniks Tri-Pool arcade machine from 1981 with the only difference being the coin door, which very well could of been swapped out with a new piece of wood judging by the plywood instead of particle board and the monitor being turned around during the conversion to the Taito games.

Edit: The Quest is over

I've been watching videos of Johns Arcade. I thought I watched them all but apparently not. Hoping for some new content soon. Patience is a virtue!

I am called Isaac and I've been into the arcade collecting hobby for nearly 6 years. I don't remember if I ever introduced myself before but if not, here we go! Right now I have 22 games, a broke claw machine that I'll get to...someday, and an Iceball machine. All my video arcade games are from the 80s. I only collect games I've enjoyed when I was younger or games I think are fun. I have had some 90s games like NBA Jam and House of the Dead but ended up selling those for some iconic 80s games.

I'm currently jumping between a few projects which include a Dig Dug, Battlezone, Gauntlet, and Tron. Tron and Gauntlet are playable but need art and maybe some tweaking. My Battlezone monitor needs fixed to play. Dig Dug needs serious cabinet work and at this point is just an empty cabinet.

I'm an electrician doing mostly commercial and industrial work but do residential once in awhile. I have a wife and two adult sons that I drag with me whenever I need help picking up games. The road trips are nice.

I also collect nostalgic toys, electronics, and whatever reminds me of what I consider better times... at least in my life. I guess that's enough about me. I'm looking forward to hanging out in John's Arcade. Let's make this a kickass year!

Digital media/online downloads are ridiculous. Essentially all entertainment is going to online subscription services so you never really own anything. I recently started watching older movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, Rambo, etc..., and they are either unavailable or its required to rent them. I purchased these movies on DVD for about the same price it was to rent on Amazon video. I'll store them and watch anytime I want. Using a service like Amazon video you are given a short time to watch/finish watching before your time expires. NEVER buy a game or movie on these subscription services because they can update their service anytime and it could be unavailable.

Subscription services are usually a horrible decision. Buy games and movies on physical media to avoid getting screwed.

Bare and a layer of rust. I'll keep it inside so it doesn't get any worse.
