your list is very interesting.  we all have different things that float out .  DMD or alphanumeric.  to me it just depends on the game.  to me it boils down to if i think the game is fun.  I have a BoP and i like it.  i like it because it is fun theme and is simple.  not every game has to be super challenging.  Centaur is a fun game  you will pay a good price for a nice one.  gorgar is easy to find.  xenon is cool looking.  i think it has an infinity backglass.  (space invaders pin has the same type of glass in it.)  I love Black Knight 2000.  the music rocks and everyone that comes over plays that game.  i would suggest downloading pinball arcade.  some of the games you have listed are on there.

did the marquee light ever light up?  my suggestion would be to start with checking the fuses with the continuity test and also checking the voltages.  do you get neck glow from the monitor?

router is your best bet for that job.  you can get the slot cutter from harbor freight.

7  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / is this a flyback issue on: May 27, 2014, 11:00:14 am
not sure on the make of the monitor yet  i will have to remove it from the cab.  here is the problem.  the screen is a bit dark even with the brightness turned up. so i slightly adjusted the screen knob on the fly back and turned down the brightness on the control panel.  what appeared on the screen was a 2 inch tall band across the screen that is completely out of focus.  the rest of the screen is in focus.

is this a fly back issue. or possibly a cap kit?  I am guessing its a K7000 monitor.

thanks for the help

ian's cap kit is the best.  i have gotten other cap kits and they give you all teh caps in a bag.  i have spent more time putting caps in order that actually putting in the caps.  with the label system it is quick and easy.

welcome to the board.  first find a cap map online or the monitors manual online.
have to correct tools: solder, soldering iron, desoldering tool, and some patience.

caps have a neg and positive side.  the long leg is positive and the neg side is usually marked on the cap and also has a shorter leg.

put your caps in order and label them.

take your time.  watch a couple vids.  johns is pretty good.

do 1 at a time and check them off the list.   mark any that you think that you question yourself on.

dont cut any legs until you have double checked all your work.
