1  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Does this donkey Kong have a hacked rom? on: May 27, 2018, 07:23:27 pm
I got a donkey Kong a friend bought working but when you start a game it immediately goes to the level with pies and when you beat it you go to a level with elevators but it still says level one. If you die on elevator level it takes you back to the pies instead of staying on elevators. Is this a hacked rom, corrupted rom or something else.
Here is a photo of the level it starts on

Thanks in advance
2  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Re: Donkey Kong sync issue and constantly makes sound on: May 27, 2018, 07:18:05 pm
I fixed the  sync issue by adjusting horizontal hold. The audio issue just appears to be a bad audio amp because sometimes it works gets louder quieter etc.

4  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Donkey Kong sync issue and constantly makes sound on: May 26, 2018, 01:46:07 pm
My friend bought a donkey Kong and asked me if I could fix it because he knows very little about the tech stuff but I’m not quite sure what to do on this game. It appears that there is a sync issue but when it is on it constantly makes a jump noise. The EPROMs on it have no covers on the windows so I think there is a good chance the data on it could be messed up. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to check.
5  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Go7 Black screen on: December 27, 2017, 06:21:42 pm
I bought a centipede that was converted into a twin cobra. When I bought it I was getting no picture or sound so I replaced the power supply and it worked but the monitor curled at the top a little. I did a cap kit and the mod that the instructions told me to do for the cap kit. double checked all my caps and wires Im getting a slight glow on the neck of the monitor and I hear the monitor turning on but Im getting a black screen. it makes the sound when i insert a coin and it plays the music if I start a game but Im getting a completely black screen. not sure what I should do

I bought some 40 pin seats from frys but the daughter board doesnt go in all the way because they are too shallow. I tried to bend the pins on the seat on the board so I could get my multimeter to get continuity on all the pins. does anyone know where I can buy the correct seats for the daughterboard

Try reseating or swapping the CPUs.

This has happened to me many times with these boards.

reseating the cpu ppu and rom chips on top of the daughter board didnt work so im replacing the thing that the daughter board ataches to on the mainboard

so I have a vs goonies machine and the colors are all tinted purple (I asume that can be fixed with a cap kit) and the picture gets biger and smaller randomly and often, now I am not sure what would fix the second part, should I just do a cap kit, is the hot bad, is it the b+ voltage, or would the flyback be the culprate,  this would be my first crt repaire but I have replaced all the caps on a lcd computer monitor which fixed it. Thanks so much in advance for the help

I would check the B+ for the breathing picture size. Start with cap kit then go from there
So when i went to order a kit ian kellogs site was down so i ordered from a site called twisted courter a sanyo 20 ezv cap kit and I went to replace c201 and the cap kit came with a 100 uf 16v but my board used a 10 uf 25v, do I replace the cap or use the old one

I don't personally recall this issue but it looks like it's common. Just use the 100 UF cap:

the daughter board kept feeling like it wasnt put in super tight no matter how tight I put it in

so I recaped it last night and adjusted the b+, I got it to about 108.2 and it worked, I made a trip to frys and bought the cap that i saw in it originaly because I was unsure about the cap kit. the game worked but I wanted to replace the batteries so I took out the board and replaced them then I put the board back and got a solid green screen, looked online and saw that this is often caused by improperly seated daughter boards so I took it out and reseated it but now when I put it back I get a black screen and I am not sure what to do
