That looks really good! Nice work.

Thanks, just waiting for the front marquee plexi that was printed with a Atari logo so I can finish cutting the coin door section, then I can start to glue the cab together. I am having some problems with the monitor mount. My mtc9000 is a tight fit and if I mount the screen in from the front I do not have much wood left for support around the edges, but if I make it so the screen goes in from the back it's a lot better. This then presents a problem of actually getting the screen in and out from the back. The mtc9000 has quite a big frame around it and makes it hard to slot the screen in from the front.

I decided that I was going to make a series of vids after I made the crazy kong cabinet and so I collected parts and tools over the summer a bit at a time because cash was tight. I wanted to make a Atari Tempest style cabinet because I like the small size and found plans on classicarcadecabinets.com. So I started last week and the whole process is taking so much longer when you have to think about cameras, sound, lighting ect. MY workspace is a big open loft so working at night is a bit of a problem and it looks like I am in a empty building. My camera setup is a DSL on the tripod and a sony 4k action cam attached to my safety visor for a point of view on all the work. The first two parts went ok, but yesterday I had to stop half way and then for some strange reason both cameras failed to record the same parts so today I will have to shoot a quick recap and show what I did. This is hard work and I cant do things again, I have to shoot is right each time. I also made a few mistakes, but a few proved good because it was somethings others could also do so I turned that around and fixed any problems.  While the sony alpha is an amazing camera not having a flip out screen is a pain so I will have to see what I can do for a small monitor.

I can see why john would cut back after doing it for so long. I have not even started on the editing !!!

ok but you need to use a hand built axe to chop the tree to truly be doing this scratch. or better yet use just a rock.

ok, let me grow 2 types of tree first and I will get back to you.

from scratch - you going to make your own particle board? getting a setup to make particle board from raw wood will be a costly endeavor.

Why would I use particle board ? if anything  I would make my own plywood.

One of my customers just sent me his install video of my kit. It covers what to do if you do not have a backing board and just a strip light so it very helpful and I really appreciate him taking the time to make this.

I need another project now this is working. I have a karate champ PCB and was thinking of another cocktail build  with step by step video guide, but I have no spare cash at the moment so it will have to wait. Only problem is my woodworking space is in an old loft and it will be getting cold by the time I have some cash saved up.

Yes At last I found the faulty chip, it was a 74ls139 used to generate the clocking singals that run the binary counters that position the sprites up and down the screen.

Now I can put it back into my cabinet and play it..

so happy.

Thanks for the nice comments,

I am still trying to repair the board and have not found the faults. My board also does not match the schematics I found for the Falcon Crazy Kong II boards on the video buffer section. I am supposed to have 6 x 2115 ram chips, but my board has 2 x ram chips (markings removed) and 1 x 74ls367 in stead. The outputs of the 2 ram chips are working and they go to the same pull down resistors, but these are connected to the 367 hex buffer and then the output of this goes to the 75ls174 that is on the schematics at 11p.  I have removed all of these and put sockets onto the board and then replaced the chips or swapped and can see they are working, but the output of the of the 367 and 174 is not very clean thanks to the mclk signal and wondered if this was the problem. Next I brought a DIP socket clip so I can use my 16 channel USB logic analyser and I can see data in and out on all of these chips so the signal must be ok and the problem is before the video buffer section.

I am still just taking best guesses at all of this, but watching adams tutorial vids on youtube was a big help to understand the basic principles.
