Hey,

We cant see any of your pics.  You are going to have to upload them to imgur or something and use the Insert Hyperlink etc... above.  You can use preview to see if it worked.

I have a very old voltmeter whose leads are alligator type clips built on.  As such i was not able to test the voltage to the processor board. Besides which Im not sure yet which is the voltage on the connector (bottom like video board?).

As for the video board....it looks like im getting 3.5 volts ac.  Not close to 5.  so...whats the next step on the power?

HI,

I noticed there is a number on the pole position cabinet. Its like an engraved number on the upper edge. Is that a number unique to the cabinet or is it a general parts number?  What does it mean?  Just wondering.

Thx for the help.  Im a total noob when it comes to this stuff.  I understand what the dry solder looks like in theory and will do my best.  Im starting to think i should take a continuing education class of electronics at the local junior college.  I love to have it up and working good as ive always wanted arcade machines and pole position itself is to much fun not to have going.  Its the only game i got right now but if im lucky i have a trade of something else on the table that will get me a JAMMA helicopter game that has had the board replaced with a 60 in 1. Im hoping that goes through....

Thx.  That was my only thinking of a next step. Test voltage getting to the board.  Beyond that im at a loss.  That wiring harness is rough being all cut up as it is.

So i got a pole position cheap that wasnt working but the cabinet was in nice shape and i was hopeful.

I replaced the F3 fuse as outlined in John's Video and it started working but the start screen was very orange and the tires and pavement were almost the same color.https://www.dropbox.com/s/pv3bhquikn20xeb/pole%20position%20dark.jpg?dl=0
Couple weeks later i moved the machine to a different spot in the house.  Suddenly the screen was bright and i was happy thinking the other house plug must be getting bad.....Then it started.
1. machine turned itself off then back on losing all the high scores with it being sometimes bright and sometimes dark
2. then cars and signs started blinking off and on
3. then they stopped blinking but the left side of the road up to the center had horizontal stripes with the side stripe now also appearing in the middle stripe

So i thought maybe i could look at the connectors to the pcb board thinking i should do the "bulletproof" to be sure it worked.  What i found was the Video PCB had already had the voltage and ground cut from the connector.  The two power wires were combined into one thin wire that was hooked to the 5v test point and got very hot but the ground wire seemed to be hanging.  So i unhooked the pcb..pulled it out looked at it...it looked visually sound so i put it back and hooked it back up.  Now all i get is a garbled screen at best. Now im really confused. Obviously the wire connections are a mess...other than that whats going on? Any Ideas on what happened or what i should do?
