1  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Re: Sega Outrun - brake lights on car and rom hack question? on: May 11, 2016, 06:48:57 am
duh my bad guys the brake light issue looks like its a color issue with the monitor when the game is in good color and the Ferrari is red I see the brake lights but the shaker motor seems to move something that puts the monitor out of color so I need to find something lose somewhere!
2  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Sega Outrun - brake lights on car and rom hack question? on: May 11, 2016, 03:57:18 am
Hi guys I just picked up a sega outrun and have been fixing up a few things. I noticed in Johns outrun video and a couple other videos on youtube when you hit the brakes the brake/tail lights on the car light up. My game is not doing that but I just adjusted the pedals and the brake pedal works and responds fine. Could this be a dip switch thing or a wiring issue?

Also set in free play but game wants to start every 45 seconds in free play with no attract mode. John mentions an attract mode ROM hack so you can be in free play but still see attract mode.

So I was wondering how would one do the ROM hack?

Thank you guys

3  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / wells gardener 6100 diodes at p600 on: February 29, 2016, 10:30:08 pm
Hi guys
Recently my stopped working as john would call it playing blind. I found a broken wire at q605 transistor and I repaired it but everytime I plug in header plug p600 I blow fuse f600. I watched Johns video on the tempest monitor repair and have concluded I have the same problem. I ordered some new transistors but also noticed some diodes on the 7 pin header plug to p600. I never see those diodes in reference pictures well I guess there supposed to be under the board. Can some one help me with a picture or verify what pins do the two diodes go to at p600? as I have some wires that need repair want to verify before I do!!!

Thanks Guys John> ? help Smiley

4  Tech and Marketplace / For Sale / Wanted / Re: Thinking of starting a business converting cabs to 60 in 1's on: September 19, 2015, 12:20:44 am
I built three from brand new and two from older cabinets in the end I gave them away to friends for cost there is no money in the labour the market is scarce for those old games. Build them for your own personal satisfaction but don't expect to make any money on them. There all over the classified and guys ask 1500 or 2000 or more and if you look there never selling there DREAMING!

Thanks Johns yes only two or three slightly raised inserts and does not effect game play so I am leaving it alone? do they raise from bulb heat would it be good to change to led lights were inserts are slightly raised or would it make no difference as my game is rarely on for more then two hours or less at a time?

Thanks

someones had a go at that board, your going to have to replace that nice fat IC next to the blow diode too. what else is missing or has been removed?

U41 and u42 I have replacements for both - the blow diode as your calling is just has a B beside it there are several all over the board same one with -B- next to I can't find this part in the manual on the CPU parts description it is not an actual part number..hmmmm

Hi guys I asked John and Ian about this already my wells gardner 6100 shows lots of lines until it warms up Ian suggest a cap kit and I will do that for sure I was told it was already done but who knows if that's true.
I wanted to submit some pictures and get your opinions could it be a flyback problem?

13  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / How do I install a battery pack on a williams pinball board on: August 25, 2015, 09:16:29 pm
I have an external AA battery pack for a Williams system 11 game I want to desolder  the old battery pack that is on the board and solder on the new one. The new pack only has two wires a positive and a negative and some kind of a resistor.
My stupid question is does the positive wire need to be tapped in to every positive on the board where the old on board pack came off and the negative also to every port or does it just go to the last two posts and what might the resistor be for?

I believe John did this mod on his Whirlwind board I can solder just not sure if I need to make a bunch of jumper leads from every positive and negative terminal on the board or if the circuit completes it self.

sorry for stupid question
14  Arcade and Pinball Discussions / General Pinball Discussions / Can anyone tell me in detail the best way to fix slightly raised insert? on: August 18, 2015, 09:52:07 pm
I have two maybe three slightly raised inserts on my Whirlwind I just got you can see where there just slightly raised up on one end and some clear plastic being pushed up off the playfield just at the top of the insert.
I read somewhere you heat it up with a hairdryer but with lights and wires underneath cant really get that close- is the clear plastic the mylar (total pin newbie) will it restick after ? can I heat the insert up on low hair dryer heat from the top and bang on it some how?

Not really effecting game play but should be more level in the playfield any information appreciated.

LOVE Hard Drivin (and Race Drivin), some cheap ones near me the past couple years, but I have no place to store it, won't fit through the basement doors and I cant give up the garage space, and it is extremely heavy.

Awesome game though.

Yes my other topic is more about the scenario the guy tells me it is about 700 pounds and has to be brought from the upstairs of his garage down without causing damage but he had a lift truck put it upstairs in his garage when they were building the garage..ugggg not sure about this!!!!
