I SO Want to go! But probably can't for these reasons

1. My Dad doesn't have the money to drive/fly down there. (15H BY CAR FROM ILLINOIS?!?!?! :O) Sad
2. We probably don't have any time to go.

I would SO LOVE to go, so would my Dad. We both love your vids John. Sucks we can't be there to meet you in person. Would of been a great experience! I would of also participated in the tournament too. Great idea to make a new tournament to replace Funspot's this year John. You thinking of doing these every year?

Alright. Thanks for the tip!
Seems pretty complicated though. Maybe a good start would be just to heavily modify Smash TV or some other game and learn how the code functions, then maybe I can think about actually coding an arcade game from scratch Tongue

Nah, never really used a BBS until recently. I got DOSBox on my PC and got some Telnet software installed. I belive the BBS was called Starbase21 or something like that, but it gets kinda boring after a while. Trying to find a better one to hang out on Tongue Also ill be sure to look at that documentary. Sounds interesting.

I have some limited experience in this so maybe I can assist. you need to pick a platform to program against. Galaxian, Pacman, Williams (joust). something like that.

You can program in C or C++ pretty easily but of course best results are in assembly. All of the goofing around I have done is with C. you have to get your programming environment set up right with the memory map and stuff.

Once you have your setup correct, make some test programs to write exisiting sprite images to a static screen and just get familiar with the sometimes strange drawing pattern. Also remember that not all platforms are able to write to the frame at any time. There are timing requirements that can be a pain to figure out sometimes.

Thanks for the advice Ian. I think I wil try to fiddle with it in C or C++ for a while untill I can learn Assembly. I'm thinking of doing a Twin stick shooter like Robotron or Smash TV. Still trying to think of a theme though Tongue

What I don't know how to do is to get it all working in MAME. Since Mame has a set list of what games can be played and what roms the .zip files should have in them, I'm not sure how to do that without modding Mame.

Cannibal Garbage Men vs. Rat Zombies From Outer Space!

I'm telling you, THAT would make a cool game!!

Yea, That would make a cool game! XD

D2K Jr: Mario's Revenge.  Wishful thinking at another forum:

I want Jeff at Romhacks to make D2K JR
http://donkeykongforum.com/index.php?topic=939.0

That would be a good game to! Maybe I can Modify DK Jr to make it like a board expansion like Punch Out to Super Punch out, featuring new levels and new elements of gameplay! Thanks for the suggestion!

You should do a Breaking Bad parody

Idk About that XD

Thanks for all the Suggestions! I's still open to any more that you guys might have.

Hey people Tongue,
I was wondering if anyone has a Telnet BBS that I can connect to using Telemate on DOSBox. Would be kinda cool to explore the Web of the past XD.
Thanks!

The thing is, I know how to emulate the PC-10 roms in MAME, but in the PC list, it will only list they game you loaded. I was wondering if i could load multiple games on there and make it a complete list.
Like this:

Instead of This:

If anyone can find some sort of answer to this, without me having to code my own custom version of MAME, that would be great.
Thanks!

Hi people,
I have a question regarding PC-10 on MAME. Is there any way I can emulate multiple PC-10 Games at once? Like what it would be like in the Arcades on the actual hardware. Instead of having just 1 option, is there any way i can have more than 1 option? Reason why i want to do this is because i am making a MAME cab using the X-Arcade Tankstick, and I want to make a easy way to emulate the experience of the PC-10 with multiple games instead of loading each individual game. Thanks!

Hello from Illinois! XD
My name is zabitsu13 (pronunciation:Zab-it-zu-thirteen) , but many people just call me Zab. I have been a retro and arcade gamer for about 2 years now (Not very long, IK) and happened to stumble upon John's channel and loved it. It's astonishing to see how large is collection is! Makes me want to start my own... I really like his videos because a lot of them delve into restoration and recreating and I really like that kind of stuff, as well as playing all of the classics from the 1980's+. I'm also into old computers like the Commodore 64, Atari 800XL, the Amiga, and lots more. I'm also into programming and reproduction making. It's great to meet you guys and thanks for reading!
