Title: Where to mount power supply? Post by: alby13 on October 29, 2013, 11:43:02 pm I was going through my restoration plans and I just realized I have the power supply sitting on top of the wood that houses the coins. Where the hell do I mount this little box, and how? Should I mount it on the floor towards the front or on the side opposite to the PCB? The rear ground area is filled with other things.
Is there a clean way to mount it? I got mounting feet for my PCB already. Now I need a solution for the PS. Title: Re: Where to mount power supply? It's a switching PSU. I don't have the original brackets. Is there a place to get replacements? Title: Re: Where to mount power supply? Post by: Jack on October 30, 2013, 09:28:21 pm If it's getting older, I would just replace it right now because they have always been built cheap. Just order one from HAPP or Twisted Quarter for around $20. You could also go look at parts games for the brackets.
Title: Re: Where to mount power supply? Post by: John's Arcade on November 04, 2013, 10:54:17 am The power supply typically comes with mounting tabs. I usually screw it to the bottom of the cabinet or the wall depending on how much slack is in the harness.

Title: Re: Where to mount power supply? Post by: lordkahless214 on November 04, 2013, 11:54:25 pm I typically screw these to a small piece of scrap plywood or mdf along with all the other power related parts, this assembly then screws into the cabinet bottom or side with a few screws.
That way, If I have one fail I can simply swap in another that's already sitting on my shelf ready to go. I also install molex plugs to help allow fast swapping. |
