Title: Ghosts 'n Goblins Voltage Query
Post by: orbit79 on November 25, 2015, 07:03:16 am
Hi all,

A while ago I picked up a cheap copy of Ghosts 'n Goblins which was totally hosed, but for the price I took a gamble that it was fixable. After a fair bit of work it now works pretty well. One final thing concerns me however, and seems contradictory to most boards I've worked on, and I was wondering if someone with more experience might be able to point me in the right direction. Basically, if I have the voltage at 5v, after about 10 minutes of being on, the graphics will start to flicker reasonably violently. Lowering the voltage to say 4.75-4.8v removes the problem entirely.

I've tested several games on the cabinet without issue, so I don't "think" the power supply is flakey, however it's possible the other games are more resilient. Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Is there any chips that are really hot to thetouch? It could be an over heating problem and just lowering the voltage a little bit is just enough of a temp drop to keep everything stable.
