Title: Mario Bros
Post by: BadMonkey on November 24, 2015, 04:08:58 pm
So I broke down and picked up a Mario Bros board. I put it in my Popeye machine with the 4 in 1 conversion boards. Mario was resetting when I moved the joystick and I thought it was the power supply. Put a switching power supply in and it's doing the same thing. Sometimes I can move and jump a bit then it restarts. Is anyone familiar with this problem? Popeye was working fine so I am thinking it's a board thing with mario. The 4 in 1 is designed for dk, dk jr, dk 3, popeye, and mario. Not sure what would cause the board to restart by moving the joystick.

any way you can test this outside of the cabinet? Know anyone with a cabinet? There is a lot of things that can cause a game to reset. The first one that comes to mind is some kind of issue with the latching buffer chips that are used to read inputs. If those are messed up they could lock the bus and cause a reset.

I have another DK cab I can put it in. Figured it was a board issue. Power supply was ruled out so....
I will put it in my dk. It will be sideways (obviously). Building a tesla coil for my 10 yr olds science project. So cool. Will do it as soon as I can.
Thanks.
