Title: Red tent problems
Post by: Djsnapper on October 25, 2015, 08:16:30 pm
Recently I picked up a red tent that someone was throwing away. Some of the buttons are jammed but figured I'd get to that after I get it working. Today I had some free time,so I we decided to see if it would do anything when I put power to it. I turned it on and right away it strarted crackling around both the monitors so I turned it off, unplugged one of the monitors and tried again. After about a minute of being powered it stopped so I plugged in the other monitor and left it powered until it stopped. One of the monitors just blinks with a red screen the other blinks with the game screen. Its like the game keeps resetting. When the screen shows the game it will register the coin switch and if I'm fast enough the button for the players but once it goes black and comes back on it shows no coins again. Any insight would be appreciated.

Check the voltages that are on the game PCB. Check it using both AC mode and DC mode on your multimeter. Ideally AC mode reading would be around 0.1mV or less and DC mode would read around 5V

OK I check the voltages. The 5v sides were 4.89 to 4.91 the 12v side was just under 12 and I checked it with each one of the grounds. Forgot to check it on as though. And as I was typing this I realize I checked it at the edge connector on the wire side when I should have found a way to check it on the board. But anyway I'm not seeing movement of the voltages that coincide with the screen blink. Any other ideas?
