Hey no worries! I'd love the help sometime. I've got a few projects going on at the same time. Cabinet work on my Final Lap, a cap kit to do on the Ms. Pac, and then this. It's like, "What game do I want to play...err...work on?"

Thanks for the comment on the YouTube as well. I'm going to print out the wiring schematics I downloaded as well as the power supply troubleshooting guide to see if I can make heads or tails of it.  I did pull out the monitor last night and just re-seat all of the connections that I could see and the neck board. I still got nothing.

I have a feeling I may end up with more cocktails just so I can fit a billiards table in easily...the cue stick will go right over the top!

Anyway, checked the AC voltage coming in: 107.5 V on average. That seems like it should be good, right? As it should be about 100?

Current update as of this morning:

It plays blind. I get varying voltage readings on the board. Usually less than 5v. One spot close to a connector I checked had 5v. The audio has to be cranked all the way up and it is not very loud and with some distortions. Is this a low power issue?

I finally got around to fixing the speakers of the free Final Lap I picked up. It is not 100% operational! Now to put the panels back on and perhaps some Bondo work if I am feeling ambitious.

Maybe we can convince him to do another small get together when he's free and he'll get all the crazy local collectors over!  He did one the end of May when Gregg from Arcade Impossible was in town and the annual BBQ almost 2 weeks ago now.

I have a cheap multimeter. I think it's time to invest in a better one. There is AC power going out, the question is does it make it to the monitor?

The closest person I know with a Nintendo cab is John! But would it even work in an upright? They didn't change the wiring for it did they?

4-board stack has different wiring. Oh, Tim. Ha.

Clearly they weren't thinking things through then! Good to know though...I had a feeling it was different, but was hoping that it wasn't.  Maybe I'll get a chance to clean that board tomorrow while the naps as it rains on the 4th of July. Or do one of the other projects going at the moment.

Tighe, that is one DIRTY board...holy cow...  I'll take a look at those videos, thanks!

So I recently purchased a non-working Ms. Pac-man from a guy and have had some luck getting it working. It still needs some work but I think I know what I need to do. Anyway, the same guy also had a non-working DK cocktail table that I went back and got. My worst case scenario is that I can part it out if I have to and recoup the cost that way. Personally, I'd love to get this running knowing that I'm not going to ever drop the cash to pick up a working DK upright. And...believe it or not, I actually LIKE cocktail tables. This one is destined to be our coffee table in our TV area of the basement.

Here is what I think I know:
- I could have sworn I saw the monitor power up in the guy's garage, but now when I get it home, nothing is visible

- AC power is coming through as the cooling fan underneath the PCBs is running in either outlet

- I *think* I can hear static coming from the monitor, but I don't see any neck glow.

- I checked the 1 fuse on part of the power supply and it is fine (which makes sense since the fan has power)

- I tried seeing if it would play blind, but I didn't hear anything.

- While adjusting the volume I heard static/popping

- Adjusting the brightness on the monitor yielded nothing

My next steps are to clean the board...it is FILTHY! The dust that has accumulated from the cooling fan is 30+ years thick. After that I'm going to reconnect it and see if anything happens, which I doubt. After that, what should my next steps be?

(Thank you in advance, I am relatively new to this hobby and appreciate the advice and resources you all offer!)

I just thought that I would share this. Smooth transaction and everything looks good. Thank's Ian.

I do have one question though because I'm new to this, but what is the "Sync Curl" mod for my Electrohome GO7 and why might someone do this?

Thanks! very useful info. I appreciate it and will update further. Time to order that cap kit and a solder sucker...I have a feeling it may take a while with desoldering braid.

Any good resources for finding a normal speed ms. pacman? The wife doesn't like it playing super fast...and this is her game and all.

Thanks!

So I've noticed that the red color tends to cut in and out. I noticed that when opening and closing the coin door...It would some times flicker on/off. Also on a couple of occasions of closing the coin door the game reset. My guess is that there is a short somewhere?

Would the cap kit fix the red? Or is that a tube issue?

Also, there is a ground strap that is connected to the filter board that I removed. Should I concern myself with reattaching it to something else or just remove it completely?

Trash the RFI filter board and check your fuses with a multi meter. Do that then report back!!

Thanks guys!

Took it out and now we are in business!!!  Part of the board is in rough shape and may cause some issues down the line I'm thinking...

I need to fine tune the monitor. It looks like there is a wave going through it while you play. Then perhaps a cap kit will take care of that? A rejuve (John???)?

So I went back a week later to pick this up.  I could have sworn the monitor came on when we were in the garage at his place. Now I don't get anything... I'll dive into this one here and there. It's to keep me going when I get frustrated with the other projects.  Don't worry, it came with the glass. It's in another shot. It didn't come with the clips for the glass though. This may require some fabrication or some luck...

This is the last one I'm going to pick up for a while. I've got to get everything else operational for now. If I can get it up and running...I have this dream of redoing the entire table to have a paint scheme like the stand up model.
