Hey Guys. I wanted to reach out and see what everyone's insight is on this topic. This could have already been talked about on here ad nauseam. (relatively new to the forum) Anyway a couple years ago I watched the documentary King of Kong for the first time, and was thoroughly entertained. I eventually picked it up at a video store going out of business for next to nothing, and when I'm really bored I'll pop it in from time to time. In any event, recently googling/youtubing the topic, I've come across Dwayne Richard's videos King of Con and there are a few other ones. They discredit the film saying it is all lies and the record really belongs to a Tim Sczerby. The Billy Mitchell, Steve Wiebe conflict in the film was fabricated according to his claims. This was a film I really liked, so at first I was really troubled seeing this, since I really liked Steve in the film and was bothered by the fact that it may all be a lie. Is there any truth to Dwayne Richard's claims? Any insight on this would be awesome. Thanks!!

There is a lot of truth in the stuff Dwayne says. Go find the VGO podcasts where I had Dwayne on. They are great.

Awesome! I'm gonna go look it up now. Over the course of the morning I did a little more reading, and I saw that it looks more like the filmmakers covered up Tim's score to begin with making it seem like Steve's first record beat Billy's 1982 record. At first I thought he was trying to come off saying Steve's records are all lies in general. Looking forward to listening to the interview to hear more. Thanks!

Towards the end of listening right now. A lot of facts are made for sure. I just guess I don't like the way Dwayne comes off. Clearly things were omitted from King of Kong, but the extent that Dwayne goes to is excessive. He seems hell bent on destroying Bill and Walter. Tim should have definitely been involved. I don't think Bill or Steve really cheated with their scores or anything like that. My biggest problem is just how Dwayne is just saying "I've been around for X amount of years and you can't compare to what I know. So I'm right" Type of attitude. That is my only hang up. If he presented it in a more humble manner I may be a little more lenient. So I do agree that there is some truth to it John. I just feel like Dwayne comes off as an ass at times.
