Title: Atari world rally steering encoder/coupler
Post by: Favorthebrave on October 23, 2017, 04:08:39 pm
Hi all
I am new to this and this is my first post.
Being in the uk means very little access to arcade spares.
I am wondering if anybody has either the wiring schematics or clear close up photos of this optical encoder board located behind the steering wheel
I have repurposed a cabinet to save a world rally jamma board from retirement and need help/advice on how the steering works
I may have to build a new board as I cannot find a board hence any information would be so much appreciated

Just to give a heads up, I have been lucky to find a steering wheel assembly for free, the donated steering wheel came with  encoder/coupler pcb,
I fitted  it and after a few attempts with the wiring I got it steering left, the feeling of joy was overwhelming,I identified that the optic sensor was faulty so after replacing both sensors, using mpu4 fruit machine reel optics I got it working perfectly, did make a mistake of greasing the gears , not recommended unless you then have to clean it all off again as it covered the optic sensors, lesson learned
Next I will build a couple of spare boards using this board as a template for extra spares or if I get hold of another driving game
