Title: Hogan's Alley - PPU question???
Post by: bheineck on February 18, 2011, 06:29:23 pm
I just purchased a Dr. Mario VS Unisystem with the intent to turn it into a Hogan's Alley game. To my surprise I found the 6 Hogan's Alley ROMs on the cabinet floor, but no PPU. Is the PPU unique to the game or are there other games that use that PPU? I will try to purchase the other game in that case instead of having two sets of Hogans Alley ROMs. Any help appreciated.

On a side note is it possible to get replacement PPUs?

No replacement PPU's exist. The only PPU's that exist are what's left in the world. There are several other games that use a PPU similar to Hogan's Alley. John, the creator of this forum and his website, has a list comparing the Vs. games and PPU that will work (http://www.johnsarcade.com/nintendo_vs_ppu_info.php)
You can use the PPU on the Dr. Mario board, but the colors won't work right.
