1  Arcade and Pinball Discussions / Beginner's Help Corner / Question on Pole Position Board on: August 13, 2018, 12:01:11 pm
I have a Pole Position 1 board stack that I pulled out of a "half" cockpit and i was looking at some of the chips on the board and was wondering why does some of the chips say 1982 Atari and some say 1983 Atari as shown in the linked picture below I am sure its something simple but i thought i would ask be sure

Top Chip is 1983
Bottom is 1982

2  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Pole Position steering issue on: February 28, 2017, 11:00:44 am
I have a pole position machine that is currently having a steering issue. I checked voltages coming from the harness and going into the opto board and i am getting 4.96 volts in both areas.

I am wondering if its just a dead opto and can be simply rebuilt. If it can be rebuilt I was wondering where I can get a suitable drop in replacement opto for the board. I cannot find a replacement board anywhere that isn't a part of a whole control panel or is untested.

If anyone knows where I can find one please let me know  Undecided

I so badly want to get it working again Cry

Thanks in advance

Brad

It is the hard drive because as part of the self test it tests the HDD almost much like a computer does and then mounts the hard drive's filesystem.

Out of curiousity were there any noticeable clicking sounds coming from the HDD?? If not chances are the filesystem is corrupted and cannot be mounted or could be a bad connection from the main board to the HDD or simply a bad IDE cable.  My recommendation is to try reseating the IDE cable going from the HDD to the main board inside the machine and see if that helps. If that does not work then try replacing the IDE cable. If all else fails then the CF card mod is going to be the only other solution.

Hope this helps  Cool
