Folks,

need some help on possible what may be the issue?   . Game powers up, sounds works fine, noticed that the screen is displaying "pipes" / games plays but DD will just move back & forth. when  he jumps he falls in water  or if you catch a vine, he freezes in motion , until a hits him(hard to explain) background plays fine.  Game worked fine for awhile.
reseated all IC chips cleaned.
Had a couple broken .01 uf caps on the edges. repaired.   NO change.
DC voltages on p/s measure normal. (5v,-12,12 ect..)  I have a pinout.

screen adjusts fine..  just have what it looks like is a screen full of "plumer pipes"Huh?

any suggestions would  be highly appreciated

I have a PIC , how do you upload it?  when I hit "insert image" nothing happens?

Love to share this beautiful piture!

To post a picture you'll need to host it somewhere like photobucket.

Anyways, this sounds like a very crazy problem. Nothing is jumping out at me here. IF you can post a photo it could help.

Also, check out this page:

Yes I have checked this out along with Mike's arcade repair logs for dkjr,  didn't quite find much on this issue.  Tried some IC chip 5B,C,D on the cpu side, no change in symptoms.

I'm guessing a bad 5e looking at the screenshots at Brasington.

5E is a 2764 EPROM.

Before you go and get another set of roms, I would pull the PCB out of the game and remove and reseat all of the socketed roms and clean the legs with a pencil eraser if they are dirty. I also sometimes spray electrical contact cleaner in the sockets and let it dry before putting the chips back in. You also may want to remove and reseat the CPU and other socketed chips.

These are always the FIRST things I do after I check the voltages.

I had a spare "untested" cpu brd tried the 5C ,5D & 5E  & 3H chips,  symptoms did not change, even  tried the Z80 chip.  NO help  All these chips look fairly clean.

the dkr1-x chips are really cruddy  Sad

Used dust spray to clean the sockets.

I just cleaned everything again Pencil did the trick!!!

NO change ....

bummer good hints...

I was hoping swapping some IC chips especially 5E would help nope....
