1  Nintendo Talk / NINTENDO VS. FORUM / Vs. Super Mario Bros. Quirks? on: February 26, 2012, 08:03:14 pm
So I finally got my SMB working on my unisystem! Awesome game. Found some quirks that i'm not sure if it's a problem with my rom version or what.

1. On a two player game, mario and luigi controls are reversed. P1 side is luigi, P2 is Mario
2. When you pop a in to continue, you don't continue, it starts you back at world 1-1 no score but I still have the coins i died with.
3. High scores that are built in when i start are REALLY high. 221,000?! Those are the factory scores?

Other than that, the game is great!
2  Nintendo Talk / NINTENDO VS. FORUM / Nintendo VS. to LCD - help? on: February 08, 2012, 09:33:20 am
Thinking about replacing my VS. screen to a comparably sized LCD. Any idea how I could apply this (http://www.arcademvs.com/rgbstovga.htm ) to my unisystem? I looks like it's pretty easy. But I'm just unsure of where the video inputs are in my cabinet.

The walkthru here: (http://www.aceamusements.us/how-to-convert-a-ms-pac-man-arcade-video-game-from-a-crt-to-an-lcd-monitor-.html ) makes it sound a little more daunting. But the example is for a ms pacman. No sure how the guts of a ms pacman compare to a VS. Unisystem. I tend to think the Nintendo is a little tidier on the inside.

Any thoughts on this? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I realize 2 things: 1. it's taking away from the purity of the system. 2. I won't be able to play light gun games on and LCD but screen burn on my CRT is killing me.

Okay. So here's the . I got a pcb with excitebike on it. I pulled out my old pcb with skykid, plugged the excitebike in and got nothing but a blue screen  Embarrassed

So I troubleshooted it a bit.

1. Pulled the ROMs and ppu off the pcb and put it into my known working pcb (minus skykid daughter board) it worked... So I knew the excite bike game itself was okay.

2. Double checked the original excite bike pcb by plugging in the skykid daughter into it. No dice.

3. Wasn't satisfied with having only one pcb to share between two games, so I tried the excite pcb again and this time I heard a "pop" and smelled something funny in the cabinet.

Now none of the pcb's fire up and the screen doesn't fire up.

Any idea what happened? Did I screw up the games permanently? How about the pcbs - did anything permanently damage them?

I know this may be a bit vague, but I'm scared..is my whole system shot? Is she gonna make it?!?
4  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / VS SkyKid Install-Swap on: December 16, 2011, 08:29:51 am
Some General questions as this is the first time I'm attempting to swap out a game out of my unisystem. (swapping out Golf for a SkyKid)

1. This Skykid kit i got actually seems to be on the daughterboard daughterboard of RBI. I assume since they share the same PPU, this should be okay or not?

2. I was looking at the dipswitch settings here and I don't see any settings for free play - are there?

3. Is the daughter card supposed to drop down into the PPU and CPU spots pretty flush? I don't want to jam this thing in there, but right now, it doesn't seem to be sitting on the main PCB very snug.

Heeeeeeeeelp?

Okay!

Just an update here. I received my ebay auction stuff. What I have that I'm looking to sell off or trade is:

1 set of Duckhunt roms (with PPU)
1 set of Hogan's Alley roms (no PPU, but i do have the marquee and the topper)
I have RBI roms that I don't need, but I'm keeping the daughter card and PPU for my sky kid.

If anyone is interested in any of these for trade or sale, just let me know!!! I'm a beginner to collecting VS stuff so I'm open for a lot of trades...

Any reason why there is a slot for 2 AA batteries on the PCB is that for saving high scores? If so, does that work for every game plugged in the PCB?

Hello!!This site is a true gem for the Nintendo Vs. system! I've had one for a couple years now. I bought it from a dealer (probably overpaid) but being that I have very minimal skills restoring and soldering, I figured a fully functional and complete unit would be the best way to go.

I've picked up some new games off ebay so when they come in, I'll definitely come back here for a tutorial on how to swap the games out!
