1988 Atari hard driving for $100.00 and some hard labour is it worth it?
Hi so I posted something about this before and some of you said its a good game but I want more input. Here is the scenario I found a 1988 Hard driving deluxe cabinet its upstairs in a guys garage all working except the force feedback steering wheel. The guy said that was working fine up until a month ago so he does not think its the motors but does not know enough about it or have time to look into it. For all I know it might even be a fuse.
The machine is on the second floor of his garage but he had a power lift put it up there when he was building the garage now he needs guys to carry it out of there down some stairs and through a door that has an angle it will be a tight fit. He also told me this machine weighs in at about 700 pounds uggg how many guys will I need 4 or 5 or 6 guys maybe? sounds heavy!!!!!!!!!

Bottom line boys I want your honest opinions is this game one historically significant enough being the first three dimensional driving simulator (at least that's what Atari claimed?) to try and get my hands on it.

Maybe partially disassemble it to remove it> is that possible? get a bunch of guys for the day and pay them for help? is all the trouble worth paying $100.00 to get this thing and risk a day from hell trying to get it down the stairs and out without causing damage? or is the game just an OK game but not worth the trouble and a walk away from it???

Please I want your honest opinions and any more info any of you may have on this game is it considered rare?

Thank You
David P

Thanks Ian I can't believe john would get rid of such an Atari Holly grail ..

Thanks for the advice I just found out about you and your services enjoyed watching your I-robot restore video with John.

I will most likely be ordering the 6100 cap kit from you soon the supplier where the game came from claimed it was all done but my experiences have taught me most of the time that's all bs.

Expect an order in the near future .

Hi John I am in Ontario, Canada a long way off but I read it was the first three dimensional driving game Atari made or something like that would this be a fairly valuable game if working in good shape?

Just a little worried if the force feedback is something I could fix myself with some research or not don't want to bbq myself.....

Hey guys I found a 1989 Atari hard Driving delux sit down model for $100.00 if you can disassemble it and remove it from the upstairs of a garage without wrecking the place. Everything works except force feed back stopped working. Is Atari force feedback something that can be fixed in that game?

Would this be a good buy for my first driving game if I got a few of the boys together to move it?

Thanks for your input

24  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Wells Gardner color vector 6100 question on: August 15, 2015, 09:23:53 am
Hi guys ,
I notice lately when I fire up my 1983 Atari the wg6100 shows redlines all over the place feeding the graphics until the monitor warms up after about 10 or 15 minutes they are for the most part gone although I notice one small bright dot in the middle of the monitor almost passes as a star so no big .
The monitor never used to do this and since it is my only vector game I was wondering if any of you with more knowledge then myself could tell me what this could mean? Is it time for a cap kit? is It a flyback problem or maybe a brightness adjustment?

Thanks for any help in advance I also notice in some of Johns newer videos I don't see his Atari in the basement anymore? I can't imagine John would have gotten rid of such an Atari Holly Grail?

27  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Whirlwind U-21 and U-22 not putting out voice effects? on: July 18, 2015, 06:40:23 pm
Whirlwind plays perfect music and most effects all good just some sounds like girl talking and a few other things not playing sound board seems to be working fine pull U-21 and U-22 sound roms of main board and no change in how game plays or sounds.
Checking all cables and pushing on chips - ordered new roms but wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what to look for ?

Just picked up the game a little bummed out paid a good dollar for it Sad

Thanks
