Screen looks very similar to a troubleshooting image I was saw on JeffsGames.com:

Here's a link to his whole article:
http://www.jeffsgames.com/2008/05/28/pole-position-2-pcb-repair/

My PP2 PCB had chips missing everywhere and my only solution was to mail it off to Eldorado Games for repair. Notice the article mentions battery acid damage should be checked to see if any nearby components are in distress / messed up / etc.

I wrote a whole blog post about this "asian" style video connector that is standard on jamma harnesses.

http://markshields.com/solved-wtf-5-pin-rgb-monitor-input-cable-connector-jamma-wire-harnesses/

The short answer is it's a JST 5P-SVF-V that you can buy from JST here -- http://www.jst-mfg.com/product/detail_e.php?series=258 -- or you can buy a parted out Jamma harness from someone if you just want the connector to plug into a chassis.

When a CGA type CRT isn't receiving any signal you'll hear a high-pitched whine as there is no sync to latch onto. Pretty normal.

You won't hear the whine if you've been to more than one Slayer concert, however.

I've got a Millipede with a dim Matsushita TM202G nightmare monitor that I've been working on. I have a Wei-Ya chassis with a 19" tube standing by if I totally fail to bring it back, however. New CPO and I replaced the trackball rollers and lubed them up after a nice cleaning. One of my volcano buttons isn't lighting up but I'm sure I'll figure that out. I also bought the Multipede kit so I'll put that in there.

I also just bought a Capcom 1943 in a dynamo cab using the "buy a dead game and fix it" approach that John showed in one of his videos. Learning how to check voltages and check continuity prior to firing up a long dead game truly made it a breeze. It was completely missing the power cord so that was technically the main issue, although there were a lot of exposed patches in the 120V AC wiring that needed to be taken care of before I plugged in the monitor and PCB. I just need to fix a bent coin door and replace some of the buttons now. Not bad for a $100 investment!

In third place is a DOA Asteroids machine that I simply have in storage and haven't looked at. I hear it plays blind but I just carted it away and stored it until I can get my other two projects finished up. There's some ganky water damage on the lower side panels so I assume some sanding and repair is in order. The control panel was also a bit rusty so just a little love there and we're done.

I  think that's it for me. I also have a Final Fight in similar cab to the 1943 and the control panel and kick panel were removed by an operator and replaced with weird 3D steel plate sticker paper. Other than that the width is a little too wide but during my Millipede monitor fun I've learned enough where I feel like I can adjust the width down with multiple options (none of the potentiometers will help as it's already adjusted as narrow as it can go with those).

Good times!

One monitor "has collapse" meaning the vacuum is messed up? Not sure what "has collapse" means per se.

I'd like to highly recommend this excellent video John made about how to fix a dead arcade game. It has tips for social engineering strategies you can use to make sure you get a great from the seller (e.g. don't let them plug in the game) as well as a great diagnosis and ultimate resolution of a "dead" machine.

i guess i don't understand exactly but why are you buying a dead chassis to get a 10k pot when they cost literally a dime?

LOL I do what Bob says. That particular pot is not available anymore per Bob. If you have a link to the same pot where it costs $.10 please feel free to share.

I'm not a political science major, but I do know the economy emerged from the recession in June 2009. The general feeling of the economy, however-- in the shitter. Here's some learnin's:

Made an offer on the other "better photo" chassis and got it. Guess I'll order a new Millipede CPO and trackball replacement parts to keep myself occupied in the meantime.

Bob replied this morning and said finding a clunker chassis to scavenge was the best bet so I'm working picking one of the two that are on eBay. Of the two choices there's a cheapie for $30 but man you gotta love it when someone uses the absolute sh*ttiest camera ever to take a picture of something they want to sell online.

This may be the world's most expensive 10k ohm potentiometer, ever.
