Actually I have just recapped it and fitted a new flyback. And fiddling around the 50/60Hz pot sorted the bottom being squished. Odd that the Street Fighter Jamma board picture was perfect....!! Shocked!!  But now I can't get the picture to fit top and bottom....!!! Embarrassed

Is 640 x 480 the correct resolution..?? Undecided

Actually looking at it... I can just see some of the icons on the task bar but there all squashed flat. Like the picture at the bottom is crushed up.  Undecided

Maybe monitor adjustment?

WOW, got it working  Grin

Initially the picture was rolling, but a quick fiddle round the back and that stopped it. The pictures not half bad if a bit flickery (but I suppose that's to be expected at 15Khz). But when in Windows, the bottom of the screen is missing, ie, no task bar...Huh? Hmmm...

Just checked online. The Wells Gardner K7000 25" native resolution is 640 x 200. I wonder if this is where my task bar has gone..Huh?

Thanks for that. I'll look for that driver and give it a go later.

And yes the sink light was up while I had the split screen of the BIOS then went out when windows booted. At which point I realised it wasn't working.... Doh... Cry

Hmm.. got the card, it's a Saphirre one, nice and compact (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272093580949?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT). Installed ok with what seems to be the last ATI driver and test ran on windows games to be sure it wasn't a dud. Turned down the resolution to 640 x 480, ran Soft15Khz and enabled the 15Khz, rebooted and nothing but hash..... Huh?

The J-pac gives me a split screen for the BIOS as expected and then sync is lost and hash.. Tried both DVI and VGA sockets but it seems soft15Khz settings don't stay. As each time you go into the program it offers to install...

Is there maybe a specific driver revision? Undecided

Thanks for the tip. That's the sort of simple thing that drives you mad trying to sort it. And only works when you've tried a dozen different things, but your never sure which one did the trick...!!! Grin

I've managed to pick up a Sapphire HD 4350 on the bay for £11.99. We'll see what happens..

Love the avitar BTW. He was my favourite Doctor Who...

I did wonder about that. But I can only find people online who are quite happy with it... Maybe I've been to the wrong sites..... I was thinking maybe it was because both the 8100 and the J-pac have video amps.

I have tried Soft 15Khz with a couple of video cards with no luck. But I'll keep an eye out for a 4350, that's probably the way to go.

HELP....!!!

I'm trying to run my WG K7000 25" monitor in a JAMMA Street Fighter 2 cabinet on a PC for MAME. I have it connected through a J-Pac and a GBS-8100 video converter @ 640 x480 resolution. It's all sync'd up ok and I have a picture (of sorts)....
But the picture quality is atrocious…. Huh? It’s bright and very foggy (high contrast). Colours are bleeding through and look wrong, it’s just awful.
I have tried tweaking it with the GBS-8100 menu and the monitor controls and have improved it, but not much. I have also brought up a picture with red, green and blue on. And they are in the correct order with no colours missing. I've tried it in 32 and 16bit colour, which makes no discernable difference..
Is it maybe the combination of the J-Pac and the GBS-8100 video converter? As with the SF2 game board the picture quality is great.

Does anyone have any advice they could give me?

Many thanks
24  Arcade and Pinball Discussions / General Arcade and Video Game Discussions / Street Fighter 2 extra dip switch..?? on: January 03, 2016, 12:24:05 pm
Hi All,

Does anyone know what the forth set of dip switches are on board 'B'?

I have a very odd CP1 Jamma Street Fighter 2 Champion edition board, that I think has a bootleg 'B' board. Both the 'A' and 'C' boards have Capcom silk screened on them but not the 'B' board. From pictures on the web, it looks exactly like a Final fight or a Magic sword board. Accept all the chip sockets are populated and the kick harnes is on board 'B' along with this extra dip switch...

The board functions ok, but with issues. I recieved it with all the dip switches in the off position. And like this the sound is occasionally distorted and the sound effects come and go. By fiddling with the extra dip switch the sound comes up perfect, but then the board randomly resets and random blocks of missing video occasionally appear.

I believe this dip switch is for the chip type settings. But I have no idea of the correct combination. Has anyone got one set correctly? Or knows what it should be?

Many thanks for reading

Thanks for that. I've cut up the connector and manage to get it on in what I think is the right order. Not sure what kicks what yet...!!!
I've ordered a new connector so I can do it correctly.

Now I've noticed some of the sounds are missing.... The musics ok, but no fighting sounds accept the odd squeek from the speakers. I've checked the 5v+,5v- and the 12v and that's ok.
the volume pot seems to work smoothly. looks like a board issue.  Huh?

Hi All,

I've been caught by the bug that is the fanrtastic John Arcade....

What got me started was, my daughter a while back mensioned she had a couple of arcade games at her work that were not working. Which got me thinking.....
I have nostalgic memories of the arcades in the 80's and fancied making a MAME machine. Then I found Johns Arcade online and now I have a Street Fighter 2 which I'm restoring.

Not sure what happened there.....?? Roll Eyes

Anyway, having great fun getting it going. But need to talk nicely to my other half about bringing it in the house...  Undecided

I'm sure I'll be on the forum for advice. Probably on game play as I've never played SF2....!!!  ;)

All's well...... Sussed it out. Grin

Used a fly lead from groung and went along the pins till one of the charicters on screen kicked.

It's not in the same order as the standard kick harness at all....?? Shocked

Hi all,

I'm hoping you veterans of the arcade machine art can help me.  Grin

I have been given an arcade machine for Xmas thats in bits (I know.... its a bit early. Or late maybe). I've got it back together and working but the extra buttons on the kick harness refuse to work.

My PCB is a little strange. If I google for images of street fighter PCB's, it looks identical to a Street Fighter Final Fight. But all the eprom slots are full. But when I got the game running it comes up as
a Street Fighter 2 Champion edition. It looks like a genuine JAMMA Capcom but has no kick harness header on the small top PCB like the usual street fighter 2. But there is a 9 pin header on the middle medium sized board.

Acording to the pinout for the kick harness there should be 2 grounds at one end or the other. But my board has no continuity to ground at either end...  Huh?

My fear is this is some hybrid upgrade of a Street Fighter Final Fight and the header isn't for a kick harness as final fight only had 2 buttons. Sad

Any ideas anyone?

Not sure how to post pictures... The insert image button just adds text. If someone can tell me how, I'll post a picture.  Grin
