Hey guys! I've been really sick lately and haven't been near the computron.

Got a couple things to say:
First, John, I love the new organization of the Youtube Channel, so easy to find my favorite videos now to show friends who want a real explanation as to why I'm restoring these "old video games".
Second, FINALLY got my hands on a Dig Dug full size AND a Battletoads, for SUPER cheap! Pics and restoration progress will be coming soon.
Third, after getting my Galaga cab finished about a month ago, I've been practicing and once Twin Galaxies gets back up, I'm chasing that record.  (Hovering at the 10,000,000 pt mark right now. Watch out Krogman!) So, if anyone is interested in maybe getting together at Funspot in the next 6 months or so, I'd be totally down to organize some sort of meet.

Checked the tilt sensor, it's not as bad now, but it still happens.  I think it may have something to do with one of the legs on the thing too, had to prop it up with coasters since the adjustable foot is missing.  As for the missing , found a spot underneath where the metal had bent a little bit.  Popped it back, and now I don't lose and can actually activate the multi-multi ball now Cheesy

I ended up snagging it.  Local pickup too! I've been playing Bust A Move way too much lately. Tongue

Sounds like it may be a problem with the board itself.  Have you checked for burn marks and broken solder joints?

Seems like this Forum is pretty dead.  The major draw was it's not BYOAC or KLOV...  Let's get some more traffic!
36  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Stern Transformers Pro issues on: September 14, 2012, 12:25:08 pm
I recently acquired a very nice condition Stern Transformers Pro pinball machine.  I'm having a variety of issues with this guy, and being my first pin, I'm a bit lost.  The main problem is every once in awhile, the machine just goes dead during game play.  The LCD is still cranking away, but the flippers become non-responsive and the lights on the play field completely shut down.  In doing research on this issue, I'm not sure if this is actually part of game play (I doubt it) or a problem with the machine.  Being that I bought this from a bar, I'd be more inclined to believe that it's a problem with the machine itself.

The other issue I'm having is it seems to be eating .  They just disappear.  I haven't built up the gumption to completely take the machine apart, but I'm pretty sure some of the are going where they aren't supposed to be going.  I spoke to the previous owner and he said that there was a guy who would come in daily to play it and really liked to tip it and knee it and crap like that, and when he got a TILT, he would take out his drunken frustration on the machine by slapping it, kneeing it, and even punching it (main reason the previous owner got rid of it).  I'm glad he told me this information BEFORE I bought it.

Any ideas?

Saw these while browsing the web today, kinda tacky, but kinda cool.
38  Tech and Marketplace / For Sale / Wanted / Question about MVS pricing... on: August 27, 2012, 05:58:15 pm
I've got an opportunity to pick up a 4-slot NG SNK MVS for $80.  Thing is tested and a working pull.  Since, I don't see these at all on craigslist and very seldom on ebay, I wasn't sure if this was a fair price or not.

Hey everyone! I've been a long time fan of John's youtube vidyas, and browser of the forums here.  Any time I want to feel nostalgic, I jump on here or watch some youtube videos.  I pretty much grew up at one arcade or another, and I've always wanted to own/build my own.

I have noticed that mostly all of the "How-To" guides online are all MAME related things, which I am absolutely not interested in.  I'd like to get into restoration, etc, but I have no idea where to start.  I know I should probably buy a cab to start working on, but I don't want to drop a lot of money and abandon the project due to lack of information.

Is it better to buy something that you really want for more money than say something you don't want, but at least have something to restore and possibly sell toward what you do want?

I'm in NY, and not the city part, Western NY, near Rochester and Buffalo, so, as you can imagine, there isn't much in the way of shows or auctions to go to in my neck of the woods.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!
